Yufuin is located in the almost center of Oita Prefecture, about 128k㎡
in area.
And hot springs abound in the Yufuin basin at the base of the magnificent
Yufu
mountain with 1584m high. Many other mountains over 100m in height range
around the town.
Yufuin was developed as a health resort combining beautiful nature and
the arts,
welcoming more than three million visitors annually. Natural hot spring
water flows out everywhere in the basin. Tsukahara-field is located in
the north of town and it has Tsukahara spa. There is Yunohira hot springs
in the south-west of te town, which is also well known as spa for many
years from now. Each hot spring spa is unique and treasures it traditions.
The total mount of hot spring water from Yufuin , Tsukahara and Yunohira,
is supposed to be the 2nd largest amount in the whole Japan.
Getting on the horse carriage lets you see the beauty of Yufuin while relaxing listening to the clip-clops. The carriage leaves Yufuin station every 30 minutes from 9AM to 4PM, and this tour takes about 50 minutes. The fare is ￥1200.
